Gary Colton Elected District Governor Elect

Long Time Member to Take Top Post

    
October 30, 2004 -- Lion Gary Colton, a lifelong member of the the Fond du Lac Community and a 27-year member of the Fond du Lac Evening Lions Club, has just been elected as district governor at the District 27-B1 Lions Convention in Manitowoc.

He will begin his term on July 2, 2005 upon returning from Hong Kong, the site of the 88th International Lions Convention where he will receive his training and be sworn in to his new post.  Lions Gary is currently serving as Vice District Governor and is head of the the district's MERLO team, a member leadership program to develop new Lions members and clubs.  MERLO stands for Membership, Extension, Retention, Leadership and Orientation.

Also elected to a post as a director of the Wisconsin Lions Foundation, was Lions Tom Clausen.  He will begin a three-year term beginning July 1 as one of the two directors from district B1.  There are 21 directors which comprise the board, two from each of the 10 districts and one district governor.
